The Toronto Blue Jays are coming close to adding another young pitcher to their prospect pipeline.
Being in the midst of a playoff race doesn’t seem to be distracting GM Ross Atkins from doing what he can to ensure the Jays are successful in the years to come, as he’s reportedly closing in on signing Moon Seo-jun.
Seo-jun, who is just 18 years old, is expected to sign with the Blue Jays for a bonus of over $1 million during the current 2024-25 international signing period, as reported by Francys Romero.

Seo-jun seems to have plenty of potential, standing at 6-foot-5. He can get up to 95 mph on his fastball, and also throws a slider, changeup, and curveball. Given how late it is in the season, we may not see him appear in any games for the Jays’ system this season, though fans should expect to see him in 2026, regardless of what level that’s at.
The Blue Jays had international free agent bonus pool money to spend, as they picked up $2 million when they took on Myles Straw’s contract from the Cleveland Guardians. They did so at the time in hopes of signing then free agent Roki Sasaki, who wound up joining the LA Dodgers instead.
Should the Jays indeed sign Seo-jun, Romero reports that they will have roughly $600,000 left in international bonus pool money. They will be looking to spend that money, given that it doesn’t carry over from season to season.
