Road closures in Toronto this weekend: August 11 and 12

There are three festivals happening in the city this weekend, meaning some major road closures.

Be sure to plan your trip ahead of time before heading out.

Taste of the Danforth

The annual Taste of the Danforth event will include several road closures. Danforth Avenue from Broadview Avenue to Jones Avenue will be closed in both directions from Friday, August 11 at 10 am to Monday, August 14 at 3 am. Pape Avenue from Lipton Avenue to Hazelwood Avenue will be closed in both directions from Friday, August 11 at 6 pm to Monday, August 14 at 3 am. Logan Avenue, from Garnock Avenue to the north side of the laneway north of Danforth Avenue, will be closed in both directions from Thursday, August 10 at 3 pm to Monday, August 14 at 3 am. 

Feast of St. Lawrence

Font Street East from Scott Street to Church Street will be fully closed from Friday, August 11 at 9 am to Saturday, August 12 at 2 am and Market Street from Front Street to Wilton Street will be closed on Saturday, August 12 from 5 am to 11:59 pm.

TTC Buses on the 121 Fort York-Esplanade route will divert as follows:
• Friday – Eastbound buses will divert via Yonge, King and Church Streets. Westbound buses will not divert.
• Saturday – Eastbound buses will divert via Front and Lower Jarvis Streets. Westbound buses will divert via Lower Jarvis, Front and Wellington Streets.

Lake Shore Boulevard, King Street or Adelaide Street will be alternatives for motorists.

American Society of Association Executives at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

An event held by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) is taking place in Toronto this weekend. The conference will involve about 5,000 decision makers who are responsible for selecting ASAE meeting and convention locations. This event will affect the area near the ROM, as described here:

Road affected:
Queen’s Park from the top of Queen’s Park Circle to Bloor Street West will be closed to traffic in both directions from 7 am on Saturday, August 12 to 6 am on Sunday, August 13.

Bike lanes:
The bike lanes on the south side of Bloor Street West, approximately 90 metres (300 feet) east and west of Queen’s Park will be closed at the times noted below for the event.
• The 90 metres of the eastbound bike lane that runs west from Queen’s Park will be closed from 4 pm to midnight on Saturday, August 12.
• The 90 metres of the eastbound bike lane that runs east from Queen’s Park will be closed from 6 to 9 pm on Saturday, August 12.

Sidewalks:
• The sidewalk on the west side of Queen’s Park that runs in front of the ROM will be closed from Saturday, August 12 at 7 am to 6 am on Sunday, August 13.
• The sidewalk on the south side of Bloor Street West that runs in front of the ROM will be closed from 4 pm to midnight on Saturday, August 12.
