A huge Asian street food festival is taking over an intersection near Toronto this weekend

People in and around Toronto will be getting a taste of Asia this weekend, as a huge Asian street food festival lands in the city.

The flavours of Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and beyond will all be centre stage in Toronto this weekend, as Taste of Asia, one of the city’s most eagerly anticipated summer food festivals, takes over an entire intersection just outside Toronto for three days.

While the fest is technically in Markham, Torontonians are just a skip, hop, and a jump from the event’s location at the intersection of Kennedy and Steeles East, as it falls right on the border of the two cities.

With over 200,000 attendees expected to flock to the festival this weekend, it’s safe to say that Taste of Asia is one of the most popular food festivals of the season in and around the city for visitors, but it also attracts a deluge of equally enthusiastic local and international vendors.

This year, you can expect to pick up sips and nibbles from vendors like WuBaEats, Cong Caphe, Chicken Plus, and Bee’s Eats and Treats, to name just a few. There are over 150 vendors of both the edible and non-edible varieties in the mix at this year’s festival, so if none of those listed get your stomach growling, there’s guaranteed to be someone on site who will.

If you want to get the street food night market experience, head over to the festival on Saturday, June 28, when it’ll be open until 11 p.m., giving you the chance to sink your teeth into some late-night bites.

Food isn’t the only taste of the continent you’ll be getting at the festival, though. There are also a slew of exciting performances, including live music, dancing, and other Asian art forms throughout the festival’s run, in addition to keynote talks on the topics of celebrating diversity and ending anti-Asian racism.

The festival will also be home to several vendors selling trinkets, apparel, and decor, so you can get some shopping in — between snacks, of course.

Who knows, maybe you’ll even stand a chance of running into Justin Trudeau as he goes to town on a tanghulu for the second year in a row. It seems like anything is possible at Taste of Asia.
