5 Toronto restaurants to support on this week's Takeout Day

Jun 24 2020, 5:46 pm

While the restaurant industry works to adapt to the ever-changing circumstances of recent days, every Wednesday has been named “Takeout Day.”

Just because we can’t visit our favourite restaurants in a regular fashion right now doesn’t mean we can’t continue to support them.

If you have a hankering for a no-cook meal and you’d like to show some love to a local eatery, consider placing an order through one of our picks for this week’s Takeout Day:

This Queen West burger joint is a treat. Chieff Bosompra is the brains behind the smash burgers (with a Beyond Meat option), fried chicken bites, oozing grilled cheese sammies, and crispy fries this spot is slingin’. Order takeout today or, honestly, any day, and you’ll be satisfied for hours.

Craving brunch? Light Cafe has launched what’s arguably the most convenient way to stuff your face with eggs Benny, croissants and potatoes, ASAP. The downtown joint’s new “brunch box” is available for takeout, or for delivery through Uber Eats or Door Dash. If breakfast for dinner is your jam, this should probably be your Takeout Day spot this week.

Gelato Freak Pop-Up

Luckily for those on the east side of town, an over-the-top spot for cooling treats has popped up at a Scarborough coffee shop. Offering scoops of mouthwatering gelato over churros and waffles, between cookies, and covered in delectable toppings, the pop-up is open from 11 am to 9 pm, every day, until the end of the season. Who says you shouldn’t celebrate Takeout Day with just desserts?
