Update: Sugar Shack 2020 has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Organizers say the decision was “difficult,” but the safety of the event’s visitors is their main concern.

This month, the fifth annual Sugar Shack TO will return to Sugar Beach.

Presented by Redpath, the event will turn Sugar Beach into a sweet tooth’s paradise on March 14 and 15.

The festival celebrates all things maple and sweet, with two sugar shacks serving fresh maple taffy made from Muskoka Lodge’s authentic Ontario maple syrup.

If that wasn’t enough to crush your craving for some sugary goodness, a maple-infused menu of delicious food will be featured at the event.

From Canadian classics like poutine to decadent cookie sandwiches, here’s what to expect during the first weekend of March Break:

Heirloom

Sugar Shack

Massive, maple-themed sandwiches will be available from Heirloom, including the Maple Szechuan fried chicken sandwich and the Nashville hot fried chicken sandwich, infused with maple syrup. Pair these eats with a delicious cup of hot maple apple cider and you’re good to go.

Plus, until March 11, you can pre-order this spot’s mouthwatering cheesecake on a stick for pickup at the event. The sweets will only be available to those who order in advance, so make sure you do.

BeaverTails

Sugar Shack

Indulge in a Canadian classic with the sweet pecan pie pastry from Beavertails. This delectable treat features a maple-flavoured spread with pecan pieces and a swirl of chocolate sauce.

All of the poutine

Sugar Shack

Whether you’d prefer chipotle-drizzled maple bacon poutine from Poutine Supreme, maple-infused all-Canadian poutine from Ultimate Food Truck, or maple-Buffalo tater-tot poutine from Get Your Own Taters, Sugar Beach will be filled to the brim with versions of this Canadian classic.

Born 2 Eat

And more sweet treats!

Accompanying the maple-infused foods on-site will be a variety of even more sweet treats.

Grandma’s Beach Treats will offer maple-bacon butter tarts, maple chocolate, and decadent maple fudge. If that’s not enough, Kerr’s will have a candy station with a variety of choices including maple ballpops and maple kisses.

You can also warm up with hot chocolate from Redpath Sugar, and enjoy popcorn from Waterfront Toronto.

Beyond the food options, Sugar Shack will offer activities such as Plinko and bean bag toss presented by Menkes, performances by The Great Canadian Fiddle Show and The Mark LaForme Band on the Bayside Village Stage, a winter lumberjack show, fire pits, and much more.

Sponsors of this year’s event include Billy Bishop Airport, Waterfront BIA, Westin
Harbour Castle, porter, CTV, and Daily Hive.
