A third student at Durham College has tested positive for COVID-19 this week; however, the risk to the campus community is believed to be very low.
According to a Durham College letter directed to the school community, a third student had recently tested positive for the virus but has not yet been on campus.
“As with the previous two positive off-campus cases, the risk to the campus community is deemed very low,” said the school.
“Individuals who have been in contact with this student will be notified by Public Health, and we are working closely with health authorities and our health and safety and risk assessment teams to stay informed and receive timely guidance and directives.”
Several schools in the GTA region have already reported positive cases in their school communities as in-person classes resumed for some elementary and secondary school children.
Most recently, a positive test has been reported by the Toronto District School Board of its first student case.
