Legendary St. Lawrence Market butcher is closing up shop

The reign of Toronto’s Sausage King is finally coming to an end.

Staff at Sausage King by Olliffe, inside the historic St. Lawrence Market, confirmed to Daily Hive by phone that the stall is set to close in a few months. It means that meat-eating Torontonians still have the summer to shop for BBQ essentials.

Olliffe saved the Sausage King from extinction when it took over the St. Lawrence Market butcher counter back in 2011.

Now, the news of its impending closure comes just weeks after the Olliffe Butcher Shop in Leslieville also shuttered for good.

Unlike in the east end, Midtown residents need not worry. Staff at the flagship store on Yonge Street in Summerhill confirm that they’re not going anyway.

“We’re here for the long haul!”
