A cold front is slowly moving across Southern Ontario today and snow is on the way.

Following a blissfully mild January weekend, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the City of Toronto just as the new week begins.

According to the forecast, “this frontal zone is forecast to become active and generate appreciable snow in some areas.” Five to 10 cm of snow is expected to start this afternoon and into the evening before tapering off later tonight.

Motorists are being warned of the potential for a messy commute home on Monday evening.

Unfortunately, the outlook for the rest of the week looks persistently cold and snowy. Temperatures forecast for the week ahead could hit a low of -14ºC while the highs are stuck in the minuses.
