Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Toronto on Friday morning due to strong wind gusts in the forecast.
The weather agency says that a strong cold front will sweep across the region this morning and into the early afternoon, preceded by a band of scattered showers or thunderstorms.
Scattered wind gusts near, or in excess of 90 km/h will be possible, the statement says. And given the scattered nature of the band, confidence in high winds gusts occurring in any given place is low.
It’s important to be prepared, because where these strong winds develop, local power outages will likely occur, Environment Canada says.
Special weather statement aside, the temperature in Toronto is practically tropical on Friday. With a high of 18°C expected for the day, it’s already 16°C as of 9 am.
The weekend is expected to offer 1°C and sunny both days, with some clouds rolling in Sunday.
Monday should be 5°C, and flurries or rain showers are expected. Tuesday is calling for 8°C and a mix of sun and cloud, while Wednesday shows 7°C and a chance of showers.
