A teen patient at SickKids has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, on Saturday, April 25, a patient on one of their units tested positive for the virus.

“The teenage patient is currently in an isolation room and is stable. All necessary infection prevention and control measures are being taken to ensure the safety of patients, families, and staff,” said the hospital in a statement.

SickKids said that other patients on the unit were also tested on Saturday for coronavirus, and all results were negative.

As well, members of the clinical team are also being tested and are off duty while awaiting the results.

“SickKids is actively investigating how the virus was transmitted to the patient and is working closely with Toronto Public Health,” said the hospital, adding that “at this time we believe the risk to patients, families, and staff is low.”
