These shopping malls are opening in Toronto this week

Jun 24 2020, 3:04 pm

The City of Toronto has officially entered Stage 2, which means shopping malls are now open.

Malls across the city will be opening their doors for customers, but things will look a little bit different.

There will be new health and safety precautions put into place to ensure the safety of staff and guests.

According to the provincial framework, “malls may need to institute the policies that were put in place by retail outlets that remained open as essential businesses or were permitted to reopen during Stage 1, including engineering and administrative controls.”

Although not every store will be open for in-store shopping, curbside pick-up will still be available for stores that are unable to open at this time.

Here is a list of Toronto’s shopping malls that will be opening — keep in mind that hours may differ from usual opening times

Toronto Eaton Centre

The Eaton Centre will open its doors for in-store shopping at Nordstrom, Hudson’s Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue, and over 30 other stores. It will also offer curbside pick-up at Best Buy and Canadian Tire, along with a few other stores and restaurants.

The Eaton Centre has said that it has increased cleaning and placed hand sanitizer stations throughout the mall. It has also put up signage to help shoppers navigate.

Yorkdale

Although all tenants are not yet open at Yorkdale, you will be able to in-store shop at Burberry, Pandora, Pottery Barn, and many others. Curbside pick-up will be available at Crate & Barrel, Holt Renfrew, Indigo, and three others.

Customers will be required to wear a facial covering in all elevators and washrooms and are recommended to wear them throughout the mall. Valet parking has been suspended and water fountains have been decommissioned.

Sherway Gardens

Banana Republic, Nike, Free People, and Sporting Life are among the list of stores that will be open for in-store shopping. Kiels, Cactus Club Cafe, Hudson’s Bay, and Pottery Barn Kids are offering curbside pick-up along with seven other retailers.

Sherway has divided mall entrances into “Entry Only” and “Exit Only” doors and has also divided staircases into “Up Only” and “Down Only” sides.

Dufferin Mall

Dufferin Mall will be open from Monday to Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm. It will offer in-store shopping at Sirens, Suzy Shier, and Urban Planet. Aldo, Dynamite, and Winners will be opening in the near future, along with a group of other retailers.

The mall has implemented “rigorous” sanitization procedures. Physical distancing measures are also in place.

Fairview Mall

You will now be able to shop at stores like Coles, La Vie en Rose, Old Navy, and Sephora in person. Hudson’s Bay will be offering curbside pick-up to customers.

Security will be increased to support the health and safety efforts that the mall has put into place. There will also be signage in front of retail stores for line-up purposes.

Square One

Square One has opened in-store shopping for Crate & Barrel, Holt Renfrew, NYX Professional Makeup, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Simons, among others. There will also be curbside pick-up at stores like Coach and Sport Chek.

The mall has increased the cleaning frequency in high-touch and high-traffic areas and installed signage to reinforce physical distancing. There have also been hand sanitizer stations placed throughout the shopping centre.

Scarborough Town Centre

Showcase, Urban Behaviour, and Walmart are among the stores that are now open for in-store shopping at the Scarborough Town Centre. Curbside pick-up is available at Best Buy and Hudson’s Bay.

There will now be limited capacity allowed in elevators and washrooms. Some of the seating has also been removed or marked as “out-of-use” to maintain physical distancing.

Bayview Village

You can now in-store shop at Sephora, Andrews, and Vivian Shyu at Bayview Village. Your Good Health, Lemor, and Linea Intima Lingerie are offering curbside pick-up. Stores like Aveda, Honey. and Swarovski will be opening in the near future.

The mall will be reducing the number of open doors at entryways. Sneeze guards will also be installed along with signage and floor decals.

Cloverdale Mall

Coles, Nature’s Counter, and International News (Kiosk) will be open at Cloverdale Mall. Sunrise Records, Winners, and Walking on a Cloud are among the stores that have an upcoming opening.

The mall is reducing stalls and sink access in public restrooms and will also be replacing hand dryers with paper towels. Sanitization stations can also be located throughout the mall.
