Richmond Hill Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Six Shoppers Drug Mart locations in the Toronto area have reported COVID-19 cases among their employees as provincial cases rise.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., on March 27, an employee at 6579 Highway 7 East in Markham reported testing positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 20.

On March 28, an employee at 7205 Goreway Drive in Mississauga was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 22.

The same day, an employee at the 1730 Bur Oak Avenue location in Markham was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on March 24.

Two days later, on March 30, an employee at 118 Tower Hill Road in Richmond Hill was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 19.

In Scarborough, an employee at the 265 Port Union Road location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 23.

On March 30, an employee at the 1601 Bayview Avenue location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on March 25.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
