Markham Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Over 15 COVID-19 cases have been reported by employees at several Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto and across the GTA over the holidays.

According to parent company Loblaws, on December 28 an employee at Shoppers Drug Mart, located at 2428 Eglinton Avenue East in Scarborough, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day they worked was on December 21.

That same day, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 523 St. Clair Avenue West, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on December 21 as well.

In North York on December 28, an employee at a different Shoppers Drug Mart, 3975 Jane Street, tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They last worked on December 20.

The next day, on December 29, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 700 Burnhamthorpe Road East in Mississauga tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 26.

On December 30, in Richmond Hill, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 13070 Yonge Street tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus and had last worked on December 22.

On New Year’s Eve, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 415 The Westway in Etobicoke, tested positive on a presumptive test. They had last worked on December 20.

The same day, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 7700 Markham Road tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on December 20.

On January 1, another Shoppers Drug Mart employee, this time at 91 Rylander Boulevard in Scarborough, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 28.

The same day, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 9200 Dufferin Street, tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus and had last worked on December 22.

In Maple, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 2266 Major Mackenzie Drive, tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus on January 1. They had last worked on December 28.

The same day, in Brampton, two employees at 10661 Chinguacousy Fletchers Meadow, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 24 and 27, respectively.

On January 1, at a separate Brampton Shoppers Drug Mart location, 25 Great Lakes Drive, an employee tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 26.

The next day, on January 2, two employees at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 3737 Major Mackenzie Drive tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 21 and 28, respectively.

On January 3, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart, 2920 Major Mackenzie Drive East in Markham, tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on December 27.

The same day, an employee at Shoppers Drug Mart 812 O’Connor Drive, reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. The last day they worked was on December 29.

Another Toronto location, a Shoppers Drug Mart at 1115 Lodestar Road reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on December 29.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
