Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Seven employees at several Shoppers Drug Mart locations in the Toronto area reported testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

According to parent company Loblaws, a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 20 Bloor Street East reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 on January 9. The last day they worked was on January 7.

That same day, an employee at the 2225 Erin Mills Parkway Shoppers Drug Mart location reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 4.

On January 9, in Etobicoke, an employee at 270 The Kingsway reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 3.

On January 10, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 1859 Leslie Street reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on January 3.

The next day, two employees at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 812 O’Connor Drive reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 on January 11. They had last worked on December 28 and January 8, respectively.

On January 11, an employee at a Shoppers Drug Mart located at 958 Bloor Street West reported testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 7.

In an effort for transparency, Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
