Toronto area Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Five Shoppers Drug Mart locations in the Toronto area have reported COVID-19 cases among their staff in over a week, a decrease compared to prior weeks.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., on February 18, an employee at the 123 Rexdale Boulevard location was reported to have tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on February 14.

On February 20, the 2901 Bayview Avenue location reported an employee testing positive for the virus who had last worked on February 17.

The same day, an employee at the 270 The Kingsway in Etobicoke was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on February 12.

In Toronto, an employee at the 235 Danforth Avenue location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on February 18.

At the 759 Mount Pleasant Road location, an employee was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on February 12.

Grocery store locations across the region have also reported fewer cases this month in comparison to prior months.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
