Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Seven Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto have reported COVID-19 cases among their staff this week and over the weekend.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., on January 30, the 3446 Dundas Street West location reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 26.

On January 31, the 958 Bloor Street West location reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 26 as well.

At the 1860 Bayview Avenue location, an employee was reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on January 31. They had last worked on January 28.

The same day, on January 31, the Shoppers Drug Mart at 550 Eglinton Avenue West reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on January 25.

On February 1, the 728 Yonge Street location reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked in-store on January 30.

On February 2, an employee at the 292 Dupont Street Shoppers Drug Mart was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus and had last worked on January 20.

The 2440 Dundas Street West location also reported an employee testing positive for COVID-19 again on February 2. The employee had last worked on January 28.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
