Toronto area Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Seven Shoppers Drug Mart locations in the Toronto area have reported COVID-19 cases among their staff in over a week, a decrease compared to prior weeks.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., on February 9 the 9980 Dufferin Street location in Vaughan reported an employee testing positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 9.

On February 14, two employees at the 1115 Lodestar Road location were reported to have tested positive on presumptive tests for the virus and had last worked on February 4 and 11.

The same day, an employee at the 520 Charolais Boulevard location in Brampton was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus. They had last worked on February 12.

On February 15, an employee at the 761 King Street West location in Toronto was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19 and had last worked on February 9.

The same day, an employee at the 2223 Bloor Street West location was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 10.

In Mississauga, an employee at the 3163 Winston Churchill Boulevard location was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on February 12.

On February 16, an employee at the 5998 Bathurst Street location in North York was reported to have tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus and had last worked on February 14.

Grocery stores and LCBO locations across the region have also reported fewer cases this month in comparison to other months prior.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
