10 Toronto area Shoppers Drug Mart employees test positive for COVID-19

Over the past week, 10 separate Shoppers Drug Mart locations scattered across the Toronto area have reported positive COVID-19 cases amongst employees.

According to parent company Loblaws Ltd., 10 employees from eight locations in the GTA have tested positive for COVID-19 between April 14 to 18:

  • On April 14, an employee at the 1800 Sheppard Avenue East location was reported to have tested positive for the virus and had last worked on April 7.
  • On April 14, two employees at 1500 Woodbine Avenue were reported to have tested positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on April 5 and 11.
  • On April 15, two employees at the 5762 Highway 7 location in Markham was reported to have tested positive for the virus and had last worked on April 4 and 9.
  • On April 16, an employee at the 1500 Avenue Road location was reported to have tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on April 12.
  • On April 17, an employee at 685 McCowan Road in Scarborough was reported to have tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on April 4.
  • On April 18, an employee at the 20 Bloor Street East location was reported to have tested positive for COVID-19. They had last worked on April 16.
  • On April 18, an employee at the 2751 Eglinton Avenue East location in Scarborough was reported to have tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on April 14.
  • On April 18, an employee at the 1515 Steeles Avenue East location was reported to have tested positive for the virus. They had last worked on April 10.

Loblaws updates their coronavirus cases reported in stores by province within the last 15 days in an effort for transparency.

“In addition, we have mandated that our staff and customers wear masks in Extra Foods, Fortinos, Maxi, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstores, and T&T stores across Canada,” said Loblaws.
