These are the most refreshing eats to enjoy in Toronto right now

Jul 2 2020, 12:56 pm

It is a hot one, Toronto! And that humidex isn’t supposed to lay off any time soon.

As the spicy days are upon us, it’s becoming increasingly important to find ways to beat the heat, and one of our favourite methods is through food.

From ice cream to bubble tea to frozen boozy bevvies, these are the snacks that will help you chillax in the city right now:

Two words: jalapeno lime ice cream. Oh wait, that’s four words. Anyway! A treat (?) that you probably only imagine you’d find on the CNE grounds has made its way to the streets of Toronto. Now available at El Mercado, popped up on the Barrio patio, this is just one of the freaky and refreshing eats on offer at this new market.

Address: El Mercado at Barrio — 884 Queen Street East

Bang Bang has some unreal ice cream flavours ranging from Soybean Walnut to Avocado, plus everything in between. Of course, we’d be remiss not to mention that you must pair your sweet treat with one of the spot’s egg waffle cones, cinnamon buns, or giant, gooey cookies, in order to get the most out of the experience. They’re open for takeout, but keep your distance from other people, people.

On the spot’s menu, you can choose from a selection of creamy, cereal-milky bases in vanilla or chocolate, and milkshake toppings that range from Cinnamon Toast Crunch to Lucky Charms.

The Old Sod Pub, a Bloor West treasure, just added this revolutionary boozy treat to their menu. A can of White Claw is mixed with frozen fruit and a shot of vodka to create this ultra-refreshing bevvy, which can be enjoyed on the spot’s makeshift, two-person “buddy bar.”

Address: 2936 Bloor Street West

Gelato from the Gelato Freak Pop-Up

Luckily for those on the east side of town, an over-the-top spot for cooling treats has popped up at a Scarborough coffee shop. This pop-up will be operating out of Vanta Coffee Club all summer long. For those with a sweet tooth and a low threshold for overwhelming heat (we’re right there with you), we see a trip to Gelato Freak in your future.

When: 11 am to 9 pm, all summer long
