Raptors provide update on Kyle Lowry's ankle injury
Kyle Lowry has been diagnosed with a left ankle sprain following an MRI, the Toronto Raptors announced on Monday.
The six-time All-Star rolled his ankle on Brooklyn Nets guard Chris Chiozza during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s series-clinching game. Lowry initially tried to play through the pain, but didn’t last long, leaving the game for good after only a few seconds.
Lowry’s status for the start of the next series is unclear, with the Raptors saying only that “his condition will be updated as appropriate.”
The Raptors made quick work of the undermanned Nets, earning the franchise’s first-ever series sweep. The task will get significantly more difficult in Round 2, against the Boston Celtics.
That series is set to begin on Thursday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lowry averaged 19.4 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 58 regular season games this season. The Raptors are an extremely deep team, though losing a player of his calibre for any period of time will still hurt their chances of winning.
