Raptors' Scottie Barnes had fun reply to "Arthur" outfit comparisons

Scottie Barnes might not have played for the Toronto Raptors last night, but that didn’t stop him from drawing a bit of attention.

And no, it wasn’t really for anything that he did consciously during the team’s NBA Cup loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, but rather a choice he made before the game.

You see, Barnes was dressed in a yellow sweater with a white collared shirt underneath, complete with a pair of glasses.

Naturally, comparisons came out to Arthur, the namesake aardvark from the popular children’s show.

And while many fans on social media pointed it out, Barnes himself decided to reply to the account Hater Report with a GIF of Arthur’s iconic closed fist meme.

Back in 2023, Barnes explained to Daily Hive how he goes about picking his outfits for games.

“Two hours before [I leave for] the game, I just go through my closet. I’ll just try different stuff, see how it looks and how it how it fits,” Barnes said. “I’ll probably call people some people to get their opinions on what [an] outfit looks like. But it’s mostly just me.”

Given that the Raptors were on the road for this contest, it’s likely that Barnes planned this one a little bit more than two hours in advance.

Barnes has been out since late October with a fractured bone in his face caused by a collision with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.

Unfortunately for Barnes, he’s become a bit too accustomed to having fun while on the sidelines.

Now in his fourth year in the league, he has missed 43 games in his time in the NBA, more than half of a regular season.

While the outfits can occasionally be good for a laugh or two, it’d be better to see him on the court showing off his moves there.
