The Toronto Raptors are going all-out on their 30th anniversary celebrations. Just a day after unveiling a Vince Carter-inspired alternate jersey, they’ve introduced another nostalgic twist: a purple basketball court.

Inspired by the team’s original colour scheme, the Raptors showcased their eye-catching new court in a video showing the hardwood being installed at Scotiabank Arena ahead of Friday’s game.

The bold design features stripes, a sleek black trim, and two shades of purple, with the team’s current logo displayed prominently at centre court alongside the NBA Cup trophy.

Toronto is one of 30 NBA teams receiving a vibrant court makeover for the second annual NBA Cup — the league’s in-season tournament.

While we have yet to see it in action, fans are already loving the new court design.

“Purple courts need to stay forever,” one X user wrote.

Another called it the “best court in the league” — before predicting the Raptors would lose.

One fan argued that it would look even better with a vintage Raptors logo in the centre.

To be fair, Toronto’s new design certainly pops more than the grey and gold aesthetic they went with for last year’s NBA Cup.

The Raptors will put their throwback court to good use when they face the Detroit Pistons tonight in their first of four round-robin tournament games. It’ll be reinstalled ahead of their December 3 matchup against the Indiana Pacers.

With a 2-10 record so far this season, Toronto is currently last place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.

Here’s hoping a burst of colour helps them turn things around.
