Toronto Raptors' Brandon Ingram apologizes after viral water bottle toss

The Toronto Raptors’ Brandon Ingram went viral for all the wrong reasons this past week.
In a 130-120 loss on the road to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, TSN cameras caught Ingram on the team’s bench tossing a water bottle straight into the floor, which bounced up into an arena employee’s face. Making matters look worse was the fact that the bottle also opened up, causing a delay while staff cleaned up the water on the court.

Ingram didn’t appear to have much immediate remorse for the bottle toss, as he seemed to just stay in place in his seat on the bench.
The NBA didn’t suspend Ingram, but he was fined $25,000 for the incident.
It’s the kind of bad clip that can stick with someone, particularly a former All-Star trying to make their name for themselves in their first full season with a new team.
Ingram apologized multiple times for the incident, as per a conversation with Sportsnet’s Danielle Michaud.
I spoke to Brandon this morning at shootaround about what happened Saturday, and he wishes his frustration hadn’t involved anyone else ~ apologizing multiple times to the game attendant he hit. His full quote below: https://t.co/7QZ1I3IWwB pic.twitter.com/7wvOS778H7

“It was just the emotions of the game came out then. Like, how I was playing offensively and defensively — just frustration,” Ingram told Michaud. “I wish I wouldn’t have had anybody else involved, you know, when I did that. While I apologized a bunch of times to the kid that got hit in the face with the water bottle, it wasn’t my intention at all. But you know, I was just frustrated in the midst of the game.”
At least in an on-court fashion, Ingram returned to form in the Raptors’ next game, picking up 25 points in a 119-109 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. The Raptors are now three games deep in a five-game road trip, travelling to Cleveland on Thursday and Indiana on Saturday before their next home date next Monday against the Charlotte Hornets.
