You can count Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce as fans of the Toronto Raptors’ fanbase — and their front office.

“Toronto is a team that you can’t sleep on because they have a great fanbase, regardless of who’s playing, or whatever, they support their team. But then they give you so much energy that you, if you playing for the Raptors, bro. Man, they carry you [on their shoulders] around the city,” Garnett said on a recent episode of the Ticket & The Truth podcast.

Long before their time as podcast partners, Garnett and Pierce were teammates on the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. Though Raptors fans don’t have many good memories of playing against the pair, both players are fans of the team’s current management, including a recent trade for Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans.

“I think with Ingram, man, he is an All-Star caliber player. He is. He just seemed like he lost his motivation down there in New Orleans. I just feel like sometimes you need a new place to be in to get fresh air, to get that [energy] back. So I like that team of him with Scottie Barnes,” Pierce added. “You got something you can build on. You got some building blocks now, this is a move for the future.”

Ingram has yet to make his debut for the Raptors, as he’s currently nursing an ankle injury that has sidelined him since early December.

Pierce also suggested that Toronto should make a move for Andrew Wiggins this summer, who has two years left on his contract with the Miami Heat, including a player option this final year. With RJ Barrett already a key piece of the Raptors’ roster, another local talent like Wiggins would certainly satisfy Canadian content laws.
