Even when they haven’t been performing at their best on the court, the Toronto Raptors have garnered a strong reputation for having one of the NBA’s most passionate fanbases.
Check out any NBA discussion across the internet, and you’re bound to find at least a few passionate Raptors fans vehemently defending their favourite players.
And the team itself is looking to reward one fan with a pretty cool opportunity later this month.
As announced on their social media on Friday, the Raptors are looking to find a lucky fan to bring out to media day this year, an annual preseason event with the full team in attendance.
In addition to the standard press conferences for each key player on the lineup, media day also consists of a series of stations, doing anything from testing out their karaoke skills to trying their hand at drawing a team logo.
“Who wants to come to Media Day?” the Raptors wrote in a post on Instagram. “Got a vision for Media Day? We want to see it. Pitch us your idea for a Media Day station, and if you’re chosen, you’ll pull up to Media Day and bring it to life with us.”
For fans interested in entering, they’ll need to follow the team on Instagram and tag them with the hashtag #MyRapsVision, while sharing a brief plan of what their ideal media day station would be.
When is Raptors media day?
This year, the team’s media day is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29, and it will be held in downtown Toronto before the team heads west to Calgary for training camp.
The Raptors will then be heading off to Vancouver for their first preseason game, where they’ll be taking on the Denver Nuggets.
“Part of the experience is seeing the players on our young team realize how much support the Raptors have across Canada,” Raptors GM Bobby Webster said earlier this offseason. “It’s awesome – the realization that they play for a country, not just a city, is an important moment. It’s also really fun. We’re looking forward to being back.”
