If you’ve ever had the dream of performing on the floor for the Toronto Raptors, now might just be your chance.

And no, the team isn’t holding open tryouts for its roster, but there’s still a high-profile chance to get on the court in a team uniform.

Dance applications are currently open on the Raptors’ website for both the Raptors’ North Side Crew and Raptors 905′ Sauga City Dancers, the team’s affiliate in the NBA G League based in Mississauga.

Auditions are just around the corner, as they will be held Saturday, July 19.

The auditions are at MLSE Launchpad at 259 Jarvis St., with registration starting at 10 a.m. and choreography beginning half an hour later. All attendees must pre-register, so if you are interested, make sure to fill out all relevant paperwork.

What does being a Raptors dancer entail?

All interested dancers must be 18 years or older, but no other requirements are listed. All experience levels are welcome to try their hand at the role.

Once at the audition, all attendees will be taught a basic hip hop/street jazz routine, as well as be given four to six eight-counts of freestyle choreography highlighting their strengths and specialties.

Should you be selected to be part of the team, it’s quite the commitment throughout the year, though it isn’t necessarily a “full-time” position. The job begins in August for training and orientation, and carries through either until April, or the end of the playoffs, should the Raptors continue onwards.

The commitment includes 41 regular-season home games, as well as various special events and appearances throughout the year. Rehearsals are listed as Monday and Wednesday evenings throughout the year.

Though specific hours aren’t listed, dance teams generally are at the arena a few hours before tipoff, with the majority of games taking place at Scotiabank Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET.

No compensation range is listed for the role.
