Public safety alert issued after attempted hammer attack in Scarborough park

The Toronto Police Service has issued a public safety alert after an attempted attack on a woman near Ellesmere and Orton Park Road over the weekend.

According to police, on July 18, an unknown male allegedly attempted to attack a woman with a hammer while she was walking through Heather Heights Woods park.

The suspect is described as a Black male, in his 20’s, who stands at approximately 5’8” tall. He was seen wearing a grey hoodie and black shorts. He was also last seen fleeing on foot eastbound toward Orton Park Road.

There have been reports of several other similar incidents, with the same description, in this area.

Each attack has occurred at random and have been unprovoked against members of the public with no warning.

If you see the suspect, the police have said to immediately call 911 and not approach the individual.
