Ontario Premier Doug Ford is making another announcement today alongside Education Minister Stephen Lecce, as most of the province can now enter the next stage of reopening.

On Monday, Ford announced that the City of Toronto and Peel Region can join the 31 other provincial areas, for Stage 2 of reopening the economy, on June 24 at 12:01 am.

The decision was made in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the local medical officers of health.

On June 19, Lecce and Ford also announced the Ontario school reopening plan for when students return to class in the fall.

The province has now laid out guidelines for school boards on how best to proceed safely.

As most of Ontario moves into Stage 2, the province has also been seeing a continued decline in new daily coronavirus cases.

The Education Minister and premier will be joined by Health Minister Christine Elliott at 1 pm at Queens Park.
