Toronto’s spot for handcrafted and gourmet popcorn has announced it will permanently close its doors following a difficult year.

In an Instagram post, Toronto Popcorn Company shared a heartfelt message to its followers, announcing the permanent closure of its Kensington Market location.

“Today we say goodbye to our very first location where we started this business 8 years ago. We’ve seen a lot of trials and hardships but we made it through each and every one of it. This place has been very dear and close to our hearts. We’ve met a lot of people, partners, customers who became friends and built a team that became a family to us,” said the company over the weekend.

“We tried to hold on to this location for as long as we can, hoping that things would turn around for the better. We gave it our best shot and tried to roll with the punches. However, we’ve come to terms that it’s time to turn this chapter in Toronto Popcorn Company’s story. It is with a heavy heart that we are closing this store’s door to the public.”

Though the downtown location has shared its final good-byes, you can still get their delicious and creative popcorn at their Beaches storefront, 1948 Queen Street East.

Orders can still be made online and can be found at select retail stores.

“We ask that you keep on supporting local and small businesses during this pandemic. Our Beaches location remains open. Our products also remain available at partner grocers, and we would be bolstering our online presence to serve you better,” said the company.

“There are better days ahead, that we know for sure, and we hope that we get to share it with you again when the time comes.”
