Paul Bissonnette signs extension with TNT, which will include new role

Former NHL forward and current hockey media phenom Paul Bissonnette has signed a multi-year extension with TNT Sports.
This deal, which has yet to be confirmed by the network, was first reported by Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.
Bissonnette has been working with TNT since it earned a big chunk of the NHL’s U.S. games ahead of the 2021-22 season. Serving on a panel with guests such as Wayne Gretzky, Henrik Lundqvist, and Anson Carter, as well as host Liam McHugh, it’s also being reported by McCarthy that Bissonnette’s extension will see him get some additional work in a new area.
Based on McCarthy’s report, Bissonnette will also begin working live-game broadcasts for TNT. In fact, he is expected to work between the benches of tonight’s Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers game, one which will have Brendan Burke and another former NHLer, Jody Shelley, on the call.
TNT is just one of many ventures Bissonette finds himself in when it comes to the sports media landscape. The 40-year-old, who has filled in for shifts on the Hockey Night in Canada panel, is a huge part of hockey’s biggest podcast, Spittin’ Chiclets.
Bissonnette’s popularity since jumping into the media world comes as no surprise. During his NHL career — which saw him rack up 202 games — he was known as one of the funniest personalities in the game thanks to his constant presence on social media, and in particular Twitter (now known as X).
