Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival is returning June 13

Now this is what we call a sweet escape.

This spring, you’re implored to head up to Midland for an all-day street festival dedicated to the ultimate Ontario dessert.

Ontario’s Best Butter Tart Festival returns to the small town in Simcoe County, boasting up to 200,000 butter tarts of all sizes and flavours for sale, from 200 vendors and food trucks.

The varieties of butter tarts you’ll find are vast: We’re talking plain, raisin, pecan, and walnut, of course.

But also: Skor, maple, bacon, coconut, chocolate covered, PB&J, s’mores, gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, cheesecake, pumpkin, and many more.

There are also plenty of downtown merchants to visit that will be offering butter tart festival-sales and sweet treats of their own.

And the festival includes free entertainment, a kids zone, free shuttles, and more.

Lastly, those looking for a way to burn off the sugar rush can partake in the Butter Tart Trot, a run (1 km kids run, 5 km, 10 km, and a half marathon course) where each water station will offer a chance to rehydrate… and to eat more butter tarts.

If you want to partake in the trot, don’t forget to pre-register.
