Ontario residents may want to keep an eye on their bank accounts, as the monthly Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) payments are scheduled to be distributed early.
Eligible Ontario residents who are registered to receive the payment can expect to see the deposit in their bank account on Friday, Aug. 8.
Payments are usually issued on the 10th of the month; however, if payment dates fall on a weekend or bank holiday, payments are deposited on the last working day before the 10th.

The OTB is a tax-free combination of three payments: the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit.
You must be eligible for at least one of the payments to receive monthly payments.
You could get a maximum of $1,283 for the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit if you’re between 18 and 64 years old, $1,461 if you are 65 or older, $285 if you live on a reserve or in a public long-term care home, and $25 for the time you lived in a designated college, university, or private school residence in 2024, according to the province’s website.
The Northern Ontario Energy Credit is designed to assist low- to moderate-income residents with higher energy costs associated with living in the north. Single individuals can receive a maximum of $185, and families can receive a maximum of $285.
As for the Ontario Sales Tax Credit, you can receive up to $371 and may even receive an additional credit payment of up to $371 for your spouse or common-law partner and each dependent child under 19 years of age on the first day of the payment month. The credit doesn’t impact your GST/HST credit payments.
Ontario residents can also expect Canada Child Benefit and Child Disability Benefit payments on Aug. 20.
Payments for Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) pension payments go out on Aug. 27, and Veteran Disability Pension deposits are issued on Aug. 28.
