Ontario releases 'Sunshine List' revealing the province's public sector salaries for 2019

The provincial government has released its latest Sunshine List, revealing the salaries of Ontario Public Service and other public sector employees who were paid $100,000 or more in 2019.

Topping this year’s list is Ontario Power Generation CEO Jeffrey Lyash, who also topped last year’s list, and was paid $938,845.89. OPG’s Kenneth Hartwick is at second place earning $929,763.51.

The full rundown of over 100,000 names is available online, in a sortable and searchable table. The purpose of it is to keep in accordance with Ontario’s commitment to openness and transparency.

“Our government’s priority is the health and safety of all Ontarians and we are singularly focused on our response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, President of the Treasury Board. “However, our government has also made commitments to the people of Ontario on transparency, accountability and respecting their tax dollars.”

Also on the Sunshine List is Premier Doug Ford, who was paid $208,974 last year in addition to Toronto Mayor John Tory who was paid $197,279.05.

These are the top ten highest-paid public sector employees in Ontario.
