Ontario reports over 1,300 COVID-19 cases in schools since September

The Government of Ontario is reporting 74 more coronavirus cases in schools in Monday’s update, bringing the total to 1,312 across the province.
According to the provincial government, 48 of the new cases are student-related, 10 are staff-related, and 16 are unidentified.
There has been a reported 749 school-related cases in just two weeks, with 563 cases reported 14 or more days before that.
The numbers are announced daily at 10:30 am on the province’s school and childcare centre coronavirus-tracking website.

Ontario is also reporting four school closures out of the 483 schools with reported cases.

As for licensed childcare centres, there are now 302 total confirmed cases, as well as 72 centres and 332 homes closed.

The provincial government has confirmed 704 new coronavirus cases on Monday morning, a slight increase from the previous day.
Sunday saw 658, Saturday’s 805, and Friday’s 712.
Last Friday, October 9, cases stood at 939, which was the highest count to date in the pandemic.
