Southern Ontario's longest suspension bridge is only 2 hours from Toronto

Located just a little over two hours from downtown Toronto, the Scenic Caves suspension bridge is a great spot for some physically distanced fall views.

Resting 25 metres above the Blue Mountain valley floor, walking across the 126 metre suspension bridge on a clear day can give you a view of up to 10,000 square kilometres. Included in this spectacular view will be one of the best vistas of Georgian Bay you’ve ever encountered.

The Scenic Caves Nature Adventures park is just outside of Collingwood, and offers a variety of sites, trails, and activities that are perfect for a fall day. But surely the suspension bridge is the highlight.

After a 45-minute hike through changing leaves you’ll end up with a panoramic view that will take your breath away and make your Instagram feed blow up.

Be sure to plan a morning trip, though.

To keep visitors safe during the pandemic, the park is selling tickets on a first come, first serve basis, and limiting the number of people it allows in at one time. Once capacity is reached the gates are closed, and they don’t reopen until 15 cars leave the parking lot. They’ve also kept some high-touch activities, like the ThunderBird Twin Zip Line and Eco Adventure Tours, closed for the season, and aren’t accepting cash.

You can still enjoy the extensive cave trail network, Gemstone Mining Adventure, and mini golf, or grab a post-hike snack at the Trail’s End Grill.

With the fall foliage at its peak, make sure you add this trip to your autumn bucket list.

Note: While local parks, shops, and events are reopening, Toronto Public Health is reminding individuals to monitor their health for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. And if you’re not feeling well, they recommend staying home at this time. If you decide to go out, maintain the six-feet physical distancing guidelines.
