Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Saturday that the government is calling on the province’s businesses to help make medical supplies.

Ford stated in a press conference that the Province of Ontario has created a new website, Ontario Together, that will make it easier for businesses and individuals redeploy their capacity towards the production of equipment like ventilators, swabs, and masks.

“We’re ready to mobilize our manufacturing might to help the entire country, and we want Ontario to become the workshop of Canada,” said Premier Ford in a release.

“Extraordinary times call for extraordinary efforts and we are already seeing people stepping up and offering to help out as we deal with this unprecedented situation. This is a true demonstration of Ontario Spirit.”

Ford also noted during the press conference that, “if you need funding to make it happen, we’ll find a way to help you.”

The website will provide information for businesses that may be able to help with the supplies as well as remove barriers for Ontario’s manufacturing sector in pivoting to the production of the life-saving equipment.

The website asks visitors what they may have to give as well as provides information about the products and services that are needed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

There are also sections to provide solutions, innovations, and ideas that may help Ontario’s communities.

“We’re looking forward to leveraging Ontario’s world class manufacturing and IT sectors to provide the necessary assistance to combat COVID-19,” said Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, in the release.

“Ontario’s businesses have shown they are ready and willing to work with us, and we urge them to join our government in finding made-in-Ontario solutions to ensure we continue to stay well supplied.”
