An Oakville grocery store employee has tested positive for COVID-19 last week as Metro continues to update cases in its stores.

According to Metro, the store was made aware of the positive COVID-19 test on August 20 from their Food Basics location in Oakville at 530 Kerr Street.

The employee had last worked their shift on August 15.

This is the third positive case in Metro grocery stores located in the Golden Horseshoe in just one week.

Cases have been found in Metro’s Hamilton and Toronto locations last week.

A Food Basics in Scarborough has already seen three confirmed cases in the month of August alone.

Metro has continuously updated and disclosed cases of COVID-19 for the past few months, listing locations including Parkway Mall, Queen West, Bloor and Spadina, College and Shaw, The Cold Chain Produce Distribution Centre, and more.

“We will always contact and follow the guidance of Public Health to ensure the safety of our teammates and customers whenever we are made aware of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in one of our food stores or distribution centres,” reads Metro’s website.

The grocer says its online tracker is always being updated in an effort to keep the public aware of where cases have been confirmed in Ontario.
