Homes evacuated in North York after artillery shell reportedly found buried in yard

Some homes in the area of Whitman Street and Steeles Avenue have been evacuated following reports that a man found an artillery shell while digging in his yard.
Police say the incident was reported around 10:55 am on Wednesday.
The Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) team is responding to the situation involving the shell, reported to be 2 feet long and 6 inches wide.
