The Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights is the perfect way to add some physically distanced sparkle to your holiday season.

From November 14 to January 10, Canada’s largest illumination festival will transform Niagara Falls into a breathtaking winter wonderland. Just over an hour’s drive from Toronto, the millions of twinkling lights can all be viewed from the safety and comfort of your own car.

Eight kilometres of twinkling lights will wind through Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands, and the surrounding area for a dazzling display of colour. This year’s festival will include 3D wildlife and Inukshuks, light-wrapped trees, and the iconic illumination of the Falls.

A representative of the festival said that this year’s Opening Ceremony event and weekly fireworks displays have been cancelled to avoid any large gatherings during COVID-19.

Founded in 1982, the Winter Festival of Lights is Canada’s largest illumination festival and used to draw more than one million people per year to the city of 88,000.
