Canada’s new hard tea is making an eco-friendly impact on the world

We’ve all been fantasizing about it for months: warm, sunny days spent outdoors. Our daydreams have been filled with sun-drenched afternoons at the beach and breezy hikes through the playground that is our country — all of which culminates in a “cheers” around a campfire or while watching the sunset.

Finally, it seems we’ve arrived at that highly anticipated moment and it’s made all the better now that we’ve found Freed Earth Hard Tea — our drink of the summer — which is now available across Canada. The new hard tea lineup has made it to the top of our roster for acing the trifecta of any great ready-to-drink bevvy: it’s eco-friendly, healthier than your standard hard iced tea, and tasty.

It’s 2021, and if we’re going to get behind a brand, sustainability has to be at the forefront of its business model. Seeing garbage pile up from the things we consume — or feeling unsure about whether certain products are ethically sourced — just gives us a guilty conscience.

“We know our consumers are looking for sustainable options in the ready-to-drink space,” says President of Mark Anthony Wine & Spirits, Scott Walton. “That’s why it was so important for us to create a hard tea that’s refreshing and great tasting, but that’s also better made, ethically sourced, and better for the world.”

So, sipping on a Freed Earth knowing that the tea is sustainably produced in Canada to drive more sustainable agriculture practices and responsible supply chains makes it taste all the sweeter. Not to mention, it makes us feel good knowing the aluminum cans are infinitely recyclable and the cardboard is certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative program.

And, since more can always be done, the brand is continuing to actively work with their suppliers to see what they can do to further reduce their ecological footprint. Who knew drinking hard tea could help make a positive impact on the planet?

The triple distilled vodka drink is also teeming with natural flavours, inspired by the refreshing power of nature’s simple pleasures. After all, it’s best to just let Mother Nature do her thing.

“It all starts with the ingredients,” says Walton. “We wanted to keep the ingredients as simple and pure as possible so the authentic taste of the brewed tea and natural flavours shine through. Each of the flavours offers the right balance of sweetness at a fraction of the sugar in traditional alcoholic iced teas, so you can enjoy all three without second thoughts.”

Currently, Freed Earth’s lineup of delightful flavours includes Black Tea with Lemon, Green Tea with Honey, and White Tea with Raspberry. Each flavour strikes the perfect balance between the authentic taste of tea and sweet, fruity (or citrus) undertones.

The simple but delicious ingredients in each can include nothing but tea, natural flavours, and super smooth vodka. Each can packs only 100 calories and 3g of sugar.

“Canadian consumers are looking for products that are better made, lower in calories and sugar, without compromising on taste,” according to Walton. “Freed Earth Hard Tea provides refreshing taste with no artificial sweeteners and only 3g of sugar and 100 calories per can. They’re easy to take on the go, to enjoy after a hike, or just to enjoy in your backyard with friends all summer long.”

Freed Earth is better for you, better for the world, and is a great-tasting hard tea. Look out for it on the shelves of your local liquor store, or visit freedearthtea.com to learn more.
