NBA suspends season amid coronavirus concerns

Mar 12 2020, 1:50 am

In an unprecedented decision, the NBA has decided to “suspend” its season following tonight’s games.

The move comes after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. The test result was reported shortly prior to tip-off of the Jazz’s game in Oklahoma City, the NBA says, at which time the game was cancelled. Gobert was not in the arena.

“The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of tonight’s schedule of games until further notice,” the league announced. “The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic.”

Players from both teams were on the court and ready to play before the game was postponed.

More to come…
