The greatest of all time, Muhammad Ali, has passed away at the age of 74.

Maple Leaf Gardens was host to the greatest of all-time on March 29, 1966, when a 24-year-old Ali (known as ‘Cassius Clay’ at that time) defeated Toronto’s George Chuvalo in a unanimous decision. The win extended Ali’s record to 23-0.

The fight was Ali’s first since famously saying “I ain’t got no quarrel with them Vietcong” a month earlier. The statement was concerning the Vietnam War, and wildly controversial at the time. Ali would fight six more times in the year following the fight at Maple Leaf Gardens before being suspended from boxing for three years for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War.
