9 movies and TV shows filming in Toronto this December

Hello December!

Holiday season is in full swing, and the start of a new month brings some new TV shows and movies filming right here in the 6ix. So even though it may be chilly outside, don’t let that stop you from missing out on all the action happening on the streets of our city ⁠— celebrities on location, cameras rolling, bright lights and much more.

Here are nine movies and TV shows to catch filming in Toronto this December.

Private Eyes – Season 4

Private Eyes will be on location in Toronto filming for its fourth season with production wrapping up mid-December. Be on the lookout for Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson who star in the series. On its fourth season, the show follows a former hockey player turned detective who partners with a private investigator to solve crimes.

Jupiter’s Legacy – Season 1

Starring Josh Duhamel, Matt Lanter, and Leslie Bibb, Jupiter’s Legacy is a new Netflix series filming right here in Toronto till mid-December. The show is based upon the comic books by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely and is going by its code name of Zeus.

American Gods – Season 3

American Gods is filming in Toronto this month through to March for its third season. Based on the 2001 novel by Neil Gaiman, the show will be on location all the way until March of next year, giving you plenty of time to catch the show in action.

What We Do in the Shadows – Season 2

What We Do in the Shadows/IMDb

What We Do in the Shadows will be on location in Toronto this month to film for its second season. Production began at the beginning of November and will wrap up mid-December. Set in Staten Island, the series is about four vampire roommates who have lived together for years and years.

The Expanse – Season 5

After many voiced their mixed emotions over the show being cancelled, Amazon picked up The Expanse last year for another season. In season five, fans will see another season of this space war drama filming in Toronto until February.

Hardy Boys – Season 1

Feeling nostalgic?! Hardy Boys sets up production in the Port Hope area and will be on location into January. The new series is said to be a total remake of the books by the same name and is set to air on the streaming platform Hulu.

In the Dark – Season 2

In the Dark/IMDb

In the Dark will be back on location in Toronto this December filming for season two and will continue into January. In the first season, the series followed a young blind woman who believes she found the corpse of her drug-dealing friend. When the police don’t believe her story, she sets out with her dog to find the killer on her own.

Good Witch – Season 6

Good Witch will be in Toronto this month filming for its sixth season and will finish up production of its sixth season by mid-December. Based upon the Good Witch movie franchise, Catherine Bell returns to her role as Cassie Nightingale in the series alongside her daughter Grace played by Bailee Madison.

Star Trek Discovery – Season 3

Star Trek: Discovery will be filming in Toronto this month for season three and will continue into February. Commonly referred to by its code name Green Harvest, the series is set approximately 10 years before the original Star Trek series and stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones among others.
