We’re pretty spoiled when it comes to all the amazing winter activities we have access to in Toronto.

But if you’re the type of person who spends all their free time outside, you might feel like you’ve already tried every cold-weather activity near Toronto.

Which is why you need to give moonlight snowshoeing a try, so you can still enjoy the workout of snowshoeing while enjoying the tranquil beauty of the forest as its lit up by moonlight.

Starting December 28 until the end of March, Scenic Caves Nature Tours is offering guided evening snowshoe tours throughout the wooded trails under a bright canopy of stars.

The tours last between 1.5 to 2 hours (approximately four kilometres) and lead visitors along a number of scenic trails where they can learn about the surrounding wildlife, and visit a series of lookouts as the moonlight and stars light the night sky.

One of the main highlights of the guided tour is getting to cross over the massive suspension bridge, which is actually the largest in southern Ontario.

The bridge suspends 25 metres above the Blue Mountain valley floor, giving you spectacular views of the Georgian Bay and the surrounding area.

While headlamps are provided, snowshoers are encouraged to dress in layers that are appropriate for evening conditions and to wear warm, waterproof, supportive hiking boots or sturdy winter boots.

This winter, the tours run on select weekdays and run from 5:30 pm to roughly 7:45 pm.
