Here's when Mirvish plans to reopen its theatres in Toronto

Mirvish theatres in Toronto may be reopened in September of next year.

In a letter to subscribers, David Mirvish shared the news, saying he is encouraged by the COVID-19 vaccines, which were approved in Canada last week.

“With other vaccines at the end of their trial periods, we will be in a very good position for our world to return to its pre-pandemic safety,” said Mirvish.

Mirvish theatres have been closed since March, and in April, subscribers were told that the season would start at the beginning of the new year.

In his letter, Mirvish said at this time, they feel it is best to continue pausing performances until it’s safe to reopen.

“We continue to work with the TELUS Health Medical Advisory Council, a team of Canadian medical experts who have been advising us in our efforts to prepare an informed, science-based, and compassionate pandemic response. This team has told us that, given the recent vaccine news, they believe fall 2021 will be the right time to reopen theatres and restart performances,” said Mirvish.

“Therefore, we are now planning to begin the new main subscription season, which you are already subscribed to, in September 2021.”

For theatre lovers, the new subscription season will consist of musicals, dramas and comedies.
