People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier has lost his seat in Quebec’s Beauce riding.

Bernier received 28.7% of the vote, losing to Conservative Richard Lehoux who earned 38.3% of the Beauce vote.

Bernier is the founder and current leader of the newly-formed People’s Party of Canada (PPC).

He ran in the 2017 Conservative Party of Canada leadership election and came in a close second behind Andrew Scheer.

Bernier, who narrowly lost the Conservative party leadership to Andrew Scheer in 2017, broke away and founded his own populist party the following year.
