The ultimate Ontario sugar shack festival is just 2 hours from Toronto (MAP)
Pancake breakfasts, sugarbush tours, wagon rides, lumberjack shows, taffy on snow, s’mores, petting zoos, wineries, artisan vendors, and more.
It’s all part of the sweet annual tradition that is Maple in the County.
The weekend festival celebrates the maple harvest in Prince Edward County and there are a dozen sugarbushes to visit along with loads of other day-trip-worthy destinations taking part in the festivities.
Sweetwater Cabin/Hubbs Sugarbush
Take a self-guided tour through the sugar bush, visit Hubb’s Sweetwater Cabin then take a wagon ride to the Sugarhouse for a pancake breakfast. Lumberjack shows are scheduled at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm both days.

Fosterholm Farms
Take a walk through the woods through this 7500-tap sugar bush operation and see how maple syrup is made. The pancake breakfast boasts sausages and unlimited maple syrup all day long. Adults can partake for $12; children for $6. Plus find maple candies, maple butter, baked goods and syrup for sale in the store.

Vader’s Maple Syrup
Stop by the County’s longest running maple syrup producer! Since 1910, the Vader family has been tapping maple trees on the south shore of picturesque East Lake near the Sandbanks Provincial park.
Tour this 2800-tap sugar bush and learn about the history of maple syrup production from one of the County’s longest running maple syrup producers. Available for sale, look forward to taffy and maple kettle corn plus fresh maple syrup, butter, candy, and sugar.

Nyman Farms
This farmyard sugar shack will showcase its own maple sugar production over the weekend as well as host local vendors and let visitors check out the barn with the new lambs, chickens, pigs, goats and the baby jersey calves. To eat, expect maple pork, burgers, and hearty bowls of chicken noodle soup as well as “Jersey Tails”, a fried pastry treat dusted in maple sugar.

Loha Farms
Loha Farms and the Picton Fire Department host this pancake breakfast priced at $10 for adults, and $5 for children under 12. In addition to maple-doused morning meal, look forward to touring the sugar bush and farmyard to visit the pigs, ducks, chickens & goats.

Sugarbush Vineyards
Play Maple Trivia as you take follow this 2.5 km loop for a self-guided tour of the Sugar Bush. Stock your pantry with fresh maple syrup, snack on maple taffy on snow ($2), enjoy soup and fresh rolls ($4) for lunch, or warm up with hot chocolate and mulled wines. Children can also enjoy maple fudge s’mores for free while adults can sample wines in store.

Waupoos Estates Winery & Sugarbush
Pancake breakfast and maple lunch, taffy in the snow, petting zoo, popcorn with maple drizzle, and complimentary wine and cider tastings. Need I say more?

Walt’s Sugar Shack
Wander through two sugarbush trails and enjoy live entertainment and all day breakfasts featuring pancakes, sausage with maple syrup and a drink. Also, save room for taffy on snow, candy floss, baked beans and homemade bread.

Strictly Maple
Take a walk through this small scale sugar bush and see their unique sap ladders at work. There will also be flapjacks and sausages; $5 for children under 12; $10 for adults including all-you-can-eat pancakes.

Three Dog Winery & Sugarbush
The winery hosts a childrens’ marshmallow roast and will serving up maple walnut sausages and waffles. You can even bring your four-legged best friend on a 4km hike through the maple trees. Complimentary wine tastings available with a donation to Sophiasburgh Recreation Committee and you can visit with the Therapy Horses of Archway Connection.

Roblin’s Maple Syrup
See how this sugar shack transforms raw sap into maple syrup via reverse osmosis and energy efficient combination wood/wood pellet fired evaporator. To eat, maple buttered English muffins, maple pulled pork on a bun, and other mouthwatering maple treats.
