Over the weekend, Ontario proved that it loves free food.
Mandarin offered its all-you-can-eat buffet for free on Canada Day, July 1, as it does every year. And the turnout at restaurants across the province was unreal.
Lines spanned down sidewalks and around corners, while people huddled under umbrellas to keep out of the hot sun.
If you weren’t one of the brave hearts that ventured out into the world for a free meal yesterday, here’s a peek at what you missed out on.
(That’s if you can call waiting in a hot, busy line for hours “missing out,” at all?)
Quick survey : how long would you stand in line for free food? A nice gesture by Mandarin but not sure they anticipated this big a turnout. #somelineup! pic.twitter.com/kq5xvQa2s5

There is a huge lineup near all #Mandarin branchs, offering free buffet for Canadian citizens on Canada Day. Poeple were showed up early in the morning and some might be in line till 8pm. I am not sure if it is a great way of #branding a company. We #marketers can do better. pic.twitter.com/mjC7FfoxIj

This was the scene at the Mandarin in Windsor. A 2 hour wait in line roughly 90 minutes before it opened. Complicating things are the heat and humidity…humidex values could be around 40 here in Windsor this afternoon. pic.twitter.com/1kHxA8cG6h
