41-year-old man suffers life-threatening injuries after being struck by TTC bus

A 41-year-old man is suffering life-threatening injuries after being struck by a TTC bus in midtown Toronto.

On Thursday, at approximately 6:35 pm Toronto police say they responded to a call for a personal injury collision involving a TTC bus and a pedestrian.

The collision occurred on Yonge Street near Heath Street East in Toronto.

It is reported that a 29-year-old man was operating a TTC bus that was travelling north on Yonge Street approaching Heath Street East, in the curb lane.

At this time, a 41-year-old man was standing on the east sidewalk of Yonge Street at a marked crosswalk, north of Heath Street East.

Police say, for reasons being investigated, the man at the crosswalk entered the roadway as the TTC bus was passing him, where he was struck near the rear tire area of the bus.

The bus operator is reported to have immediately stopped.

The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

“Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators,” the statement said.
