
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after police found a man barricaded in a bedroom with injuries following a report of a break-in at an East York home.
According to the SIU, at around 10 pm on Tuesday, June 18, the homeowner of a residence on Torrens Avenue called police to report a man had broken into his home and barricaded himself inside a bedroom.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers attempted to negotiate with the man.
Emergency Task Force officers then forced their way into the bedroom and located the man with injuries.
He was then transported to hospital where he remains in the intensive care unit.

Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to this incident. Investigators are in the process of confirming the man’s identity.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact them at 1-800-787-8529.
The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
